What is the ration gas & oil mix?

gas & Oil Mix for A Mccullock Mac 35 chainsaw

Use decent (synthetic) oil - which is usually specified at 50:1 ratio. I use Stihl oil at that ratio for everything - including in my ancient Flymo that was supposed to be 16:1 back in about 1970.

Advantages - almost no smoke, and almost no wear on the engine. Muffler doesn't coke up, and I've forgotten when I last had to change a plug due to fouling. And as a bonus, you will get a little more power, as less oil means more fuel for the same charge weight.

Oh dear Daz. How wrong can you be.

Stihl oil is a dilution ratio of 50:1 only- ask Stihl.

And it IS the oil that determines the ratio. Not the engine- think about it, the engine hasn't a clue what ratio mix you put in the tank it will still run the same- except too little oil in the mix and it will smear/seize the engine and too much oil and it will oil up the exhaust, plug etc. All of which the engine has no control over- only the oil- ergo it's the oil not the engine that determines how said engine is protected and the manufacturer of said oil stipulates their recommended ratio to give said protection.

if it was me i would run it on stihl oil at 40-1 as its a chain saw high reving engine. it is down to the manufacturer not the company that makes the oil i would say they would say run it at 50-1 on syn oil and 25-1 on mineral

CG is completely incorrect and could cause you serious problems if you heed their advice. It is the OIL that determines the dilution ratio a machines requires and NOT the machine. In the past- yes, most 2-stroke oil was poor quality mineral oil, and generally it was recommended it was diluted and a ratio of 25:1. However over the past 15 or so years, oil manufacturers have produced better quality oils- semi synthetic and fully synthetic, which require much less oil to produce the same (if not better) results than older types of oils. Therefore you should buy a good quality 2-stroke oil from a reputable manufacturer and then read what the recommended dilution ratio is on the BOTTLE, and only dilute at that ratio and you won't have any problems.
