how to reset alarm after power cut?

we had a power cut ,the internal box alarm activated so i put my code in to stop it,i have a small touch pad down stairs ,every time i now press in my code it just bleeps every time i press a key,i have pwered down and the external alarm works ,it will not reset .mainly as i dont know the correct proceedure ,can you help many thanks kevin mills.
