Burning smell from under the bath!?

For the last few weeks we have noticed a smell that can only be described as 'burning hair' from our bathroom, we have turned the extractor fan off, thinking that maybe some dust had got into it and was burning when it came on, this didn't get rid of the smell, it only happens on a night when we have a bath, it never smells during the day, even when we bath the kids, only on a night. Last night we located the smell to be up behind the bath panel, but have no idea what it is or what to look for. We do have a slight damp patch on the kitchen ceiling, which is directly below the bathroom. The smell varies in strength sometimes it's so bad it makes me feel sick. We have lived in the house for 3 years and the house is only 3yeRs old. Please help!!!

This relates to properties in United Kingdom check the paperwork relating to purchase obtain if on mortgage the title deed number as all deeds now are on Micro film and can be downloaded from the land registry but you need the title deed number. For first two years you don’t pay after unfortunate you have to but check with NHBC the T&C. after you’ve read everything to see what they can or will offer.
www.whatconsumer.co.uk in the search box top right below the red title line enter new build click and look down the list and click on The problem of buying a new build property read it all boring but informative. copy and save to a word file then read as it’s cheaper if you have pay for use internet.

Go back to Home page and in search box type BBC watchdog NHBC update click the first BBC Watchdog NHBC update. Read it albeit boring it give some may help to redress on your problem. Good luck…. To repeat….for those not in UK check all paperwork relating to your new build purchase. If not in UK check to find out if you have something similar. Copy this to the same word file.
After reading before tackling anything Check with NHBC how you stand with remedy to this problem.

Hope this helps
