how can a fix a vantage 35 tecumseh?

Complete recoil assemblies are available. There are 3 types, depending on production date - easily distinguishable. Type 1 is held on with 4 nuts or bolts on the top of the engine. Type 2 is held on with 2 small self tapping screws with a 1/4" hex head, screwed into the side of the starter unit, holding it to the cowling. These may be hidden by a plastic bezel. Type 3 is an integral part of the cowling, and a repair kit is available (which will also repair a type 2 unit). A type 1 repair kit is (or at least was) available. Ebay is a universal source for this kind of part. You might get a complete engine for the cost of a new recoil unit!
