Why is my T.V shutting off?

Hi my T.V is pretty old, and I mainly use it to play xbox and well recently My tv will randomly shut off BUT I can hear the audio. And the light that tells me it's on is still on. So what can i do to fix it? Or should I just buy a new T.v? And by I can still hear the audio means I still can hear the music or gunfire ( since I play mw3 ) But no picture. and my wires to my xbox are not ripped or broken. any help?

Another possibility would be the connector at the back of the tube that may not be properly inserted. Over time, with the thermal variations and vibrations, it's possible that it slid off somewhat, and that it loose contact when warm.

The problem is probably caused by a power supply fault.
Finding the cause of the malfunction of switching power supply of television can be sometimes tricky, because a short circuit or over-consumption at any stage of the team, could cause the power supply does not work or do poorly (low voltage , ringing, etc.).
You should verify that the power supply is working properly, delivering the proper voltage, it indicates that the cause of the problem is in another circuit TV (or monitor) and not at the power supply.
Also the fault can be caused by a vertical circuit problem.
To solve this problem you can call a local TV repair shop for an idea of what is going on and what it would cost to repair.
