The Colonel has his tongue in his shoe with the answer he offers - it's mostly cobblers in my opinion.

Consider offering your free services to a shoe mender - as an apprentice - then you can come back here and tell us how to repair shoes.

You have to learn to put your soul into these things first.
Then you might be able to join the ranks of those who know "how to mend it"
