Outlook Express attachments?

Alan the attachment you send has embedded in it which program it should open with, therefore if you use picture express to open your photos then it will try and open up in picture express on your friends computer, and if he does not have it it wont! when your friend gets an attachment he should open it, windows will then say it does not recognise the file type, at this point your friend should pick the program from the top of the list. If this is not the problem then it is your friends security setting in outlook preventing him from opeing attachments. To allow certain program types to be opened as attachments open outlook express, goto TOOLS, OPTIONS, SECURITY, and there will be a box what says "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus". if this is checked it will not let him open anything, uncheck it! If this does not solve your woes then please post what error message your friend is getting.

Thanks Max for your reply but no this is not the case in this instance, the message arrives intact but does not know what program to open it with. My recipients not computer buffs and do not know how to take it from there. I have made it open in Picture It Express before sending photos but it does not appear seem to know this when it arrives at the other end.

Are you finding the message you sent ends up at the recipient in several multi-part messages. Outlook can break a part large messages into smaller parts and was originally introduced to allow the messages of a large size through some internet gateways. There is an option to set the file size in the Yools options message tab
