Mend Karcher 620M Pressure Washer Motor

Karcher 620M PW not staying on when switch released?

My Karcher 620M will operate almost normally if I keep the foot operated switch pressed down, although every few seconds it will stop and restart. Releasing the switch will stop the motor instantly. I had stripped it to replace an O ring which had distorted, before that it was working fine apart from the leak. Any ideas?
