alarm activating when code put in showing sterling tamper?

I have a sterling 10 alarm system that has been working up untill this morning it was installed in 2006.When i put in my code the alarm activates and on the pannel it shows sterling tamper.I have checked all the pirs,bell boxes,etc to no avail.I cant understand why this has happened i need a solution to resolve this problem,many thanks.
