Mend Macdee Toilet Leaking Cistern

Problem with macdee?

Have a macdee cistern with cable flush, which is leaking into pan. when I lift lid off cistern and put it on its side on top of cistern it refills properly. but as soon as I reset it in the proper position, it leaks into pan after flushing. So I am assuming it is not a problem with the valve being clogged up. Advice would be appreciated
