the touch pad works ok but as soon as i touch a key on the key board the whole system locks. i would guess i have pressed some sort of key board security key but there is nothing in the manual?
Try connecting an external keyboard and see if the same thing happens. If it does, I would suspect a software problem or possibly a motherboard problem. If the external keyboard works fine, then the laptop keyboard is probably defective.
