singer stylist 774 how do i thread it and which way does the bobbin go?

i got this machine from my mother and it doesn't sew very well can you tell me how to thread it and the bobbin and which is the best settings for hemming pants and just general sewing

When you open the slide plate, does the slide plate open towards you or to the left ? do you have a seperate bobbin case or do you drop the boobin straight on top ?
