how to fix "file format not supported error"[pendrive,sony8gb]?

few days back i brought a pen drive of sony 8 gb from a person and whatever file or data i copy to pen drive it never execute.it shows 'file format not supported' error.
if anybody has the answer,please send it to my email address.

Its likely to be a fake drive with a much lower true capacity than stated.
There are a lot of these fakes being sold on Ebay, and if it is branded vaio it definatly is a fake with a true capacity of only 512mb because sony only use the vaio logo on products with a display such as laptops monitors and televisions.
