Changing or replacing clock gears?

How do I change a gear in my wallclock, without having it fall out the other gears?
The clock is a "Friese Tail wall-clock"
Model is "FHS Germany 261-080 B "

When I slightly lift the casing plated ,...gears will fall out!!!
(there has to be a better way of doing this),...but HOW?

Hi Gerry,

There is, but you will have to try learning the right way to do these things. Your story reminds me of when I was small boy and decided to take a clock to bits - unfortunately I did not know how to put it back together again. Eventually I learned, at adult education classes; try your local education service. Failing that, go to eBay, Antiques, Clock Parts, and you will probably find books and CDs explaining how to repair clocks. Or if you want, put the bits into a well wrapped parcel, and send them to me. I will try and fix it as I have a number of mechanisms which are made by FHS. Failing that, take it to a clock shop, where replacement wheels and gears start at about 40 pounds each, plus labour! If you want to try me out, reply in the affirmative to this post.

Good luck,
