My Neff D9970 cooker hood fan has stopped working also?

Annoyingly, I have the same problem. I have checked the control module and get 240v on each of the terminals, apart from the neutral return, in sequence as the speed setting is increased.
The fan appears to be open circuit when checked for continuity. The service engineer called, couldn't get into the fan housing but suggested it was the module at fault. He left and I have heard nothing from him now for over a week and I can't get hold of him.
Two questions - 1) Is it more probable that the fan has failed and 2) how does the housing come apart - it foxed the engineer and strikes me as not a simple operation?
Neff refuse to discuss it with me and I can't find any circuit diagram info on the net. Any help would be much appreciated as my wife is driving me to distraction! Cheers, Peter

Hi, my Neff cooker hood has the same problem. Can you tell me how to reach the controle-module or do i have to remove the cooker hood totaly?

Hi I had a similar problem. Engineer came out said it was likely to be the module unit but he would have to replace both module and front switch unit. Cost would have been £ 476.00 I passed but because of the insurance agreement I had no call out charge to pay. With nothing to lose as I was going out tho buy a new hood I took the cover off the Control module unplugged all the connections, gave them a very quick clean and plugged them back in again.... Remember to Switch off the power first. Hey presto 10 minutes later all back together and working like new again! with no intermittent fault ...so just a dirty connection!

Guess I was just lucky but if the intermittent fault is very random in timing as mine was I'd check these connections
first. Hoods and electrical connections are subject to a lot of grease.

In fairness a difficult one for the engineer as if it went wrong again within 12 months they would have had to come out again for free under the scheme I opted for.

I had a pretty similar problem but my was intermittent - it started with the lights going out but the fan still working and then all would work fine. After a period of time both the lights and fan failed but still intermittently. 3 days ago both failed and I called out the Engineer - before he arrived it started working again. He did not want to do anything but I persisted and he changed the Transformer for the lights and the Control Module Unit - Part No 264193 - the bill for this was just over £300. The only other part he could have changed was the OP Module (Front Switch Unit) part No 498313 (£100).

If you hear no more from me -assume it worked!
