Singer Tempo 50 - Foot Raiser?

Hi The bar that raises the foot to allow the material to be lined up is stuck in the down position. I have taken the side off and there appears to be a spring. This is the second time this has happened and having taken it to a sewing machine pro, it took him 20 seconds and cost me £10 to sort. Any help greatly appreciated!!!

Hello Sandy,
Get some WD40 and put some on the presser bar and leave it for about an hour so it can seep down the presser bar, the presser bar is a very tight fit and it can just seize up if it is dry, if you have a presser foot adjuster then slacken it right off, if you can take the presser foot off and put something like a large screwdriver under the bar and then gently lever it up, once it moves it will free off straight away.
