How can I fix my Riccar 888 sewing machine?

My sewing machine sews along okay, then there are loops on the bottom, then okay, then loops on the bottom. What could be wrong?

I have taken my Riccar 888 sewing machine in for that same problem soooo many times and they have never been able to fix it. I have had my Riccar 888 for over 20 years. I am tired of never being able to use it. I am currently looking for a new sewing machine.

could it be the tension needs adjusting? There is a dial on mine that goes from 1-5, I think, and that alters the tension, or tightness of either the top or bottom threads. It sounds like it might be out of alignment on yours?
also is the machine feeding thread evenly, not too tight, not too loose, from the top spool and from the bobbin?

You need to keep adkusting the tensions until you get the stitch right.
