Atco Balmoral engine hunting. Where to source replacement carbeurator ?

my Balmoral 20SE engine often hunts. After half an hour use it stops. after a rest for 15 mins it will go foir another half hour. The repair peole have blown thru the carbeurator and cleaned it out. They say the carbeurator may need replaced but there are nor replacements available as italian manufacturer has gone bust. The lawnmower which I guess is 8 years old otherwise is in fine condition. Does anyone have similar experience/ know where to source a replacement carbeurator?

Hi, sorry to hear that, what i'd try now is disconnect the petrol pipe from the carb, and run fuel into a milk bottle until at least half full, you can also see any muck in the fuel. It's to check the CONTINUOUS flow of fuel, if the flow slows down during this test it means there's muck in the tank or that the tank cap breather hole is blocked therefore causing fuel starvation after a set time.
If that fails I would very carefully check the floatbowl, float & pivot pin, float needle & seat for obstructions and smoothe working.

Chris - thanks - I'll try that. I have just been using the mower again. This time the engine was running smoothly until it died - just as if the fuel had been cut of - but there is plenty in the tank, and the fuel is flowing freely to the carb. odd!

check to see if the main jet inside the carb is nice and tight in it's holder, it's just a thought. Otherwise i'd adjust the mixture when it's warmed up and running. Find the mixture adjustment screw first, it'll be one side of the carb, BUT, if it's to the rear (nearest air filter)of the throttle body turn it anti-clockwise 1/4 turn at a time. If it's towards the front nearest the engine, turn it clockwise by the same amount, you might find it runs smoother when you hit the magic setting.good luck.
