Repair diagram/manual for Singer Futura 1100?

I have not used my Singer for a handful of years, but just got it out with a view to re-lining some curtains. I threaded it up, and started to wind thread onto the lower bobbin - and then there was a burning smell and smoke started to appear from the top where the electronic buttons are.

My husband thinks a condenser may have failed through lack of use, but we aren't sure how to take the top of the casing to pieces. Is there anywhere I can get a repair manual or diagram please?

Hi Jane I have two of these machines and thank God still wonderful. To get the top off, (the one with futura on it) You just need to press down the silver thread guide on the back of machine, then it simply slides away!! Good luck love x x x x x

Thank you for the advice. We have the proper earthing straps, and would be careful of static. But we can't work out how to get the lid off without breaking it!

Hello Jane,
You won't get a repair manual for that machine and it does sound like it could be a condensor initially, I would not recommend taking that model apart unless you have the proper earthing straps otherwise you may blow the boards completely with static.
