Locked out of car, help!!! 04 civic?

my 22 year old son is 60 miles from home with our honda civic 04 plate. He locked the car, left it few seconds, remembered he left something in the car. The car will not unlock by pressing the key fob. If he tries to unlock the drivers door door the alarm goes off and door does not open. Is there something he can do, or is he stranded?
