How can I demagnetize my portable tv. Durabrand P1430D TV/DVD?

Hi the kids ran a magnet over the tv screen and we now have blotches all over screen. The TV we switched off for half an hour and re switched it on and the screen is still blotchy. Do you know off away to sort this problem. Or is the tv bust.

I've been told that if you get a magnet again and hold it close to the TV and move it in circular motion while moving it away from the screen, it wil demagnetize (like a spiral motion) He said you'll see the colors and it will go back to normal.

Firstly switch off at mains (not standby) leave overnight and try again. The TVs own degaussing circuit should degauss the CRT. Providing your TVs degauss circuit works.
If the patches remain a degaussing wand could be tried. If not the shadowmask inside the CRT could be distorted and nothing could be done for it.
I would suggest if after switching off from MAINS this does not cure it, it would be best to have an expert look at it.
