do we have to change the small flat round battery(3032) in the thermostat

Normally these don't need changing, they are there to power the settings memory when the main AA batteries are being changed. If your 3032 battery appears to be wrapped in plastic, it's probably a rechargable cell that's soldered to the pcb, so best leave it alone.
