2006gz250 dies immediately when put in gear?

2006 gz 250 engine runs fine but dies as soon as its put in gear. clutch appears to be fine. help??

it could be the side stand safety switch which is linked to the gearbox, it cuts the engine when first gear is selected if the side stand is left down when pulling away from standstill, you'll have to check that part of the stand that contacts the switch properly, if that's ok then it must be loose/corroded/damaged wiring or a faulty switch unit.
